The current periodic update is underway and scheduled to be completed and approved by the City Council June of 2021. The Planning and Engineering Division have selected a consultant, the Watershed Group, Inc. to perform a majority of the project management, public engagement and revisions to the SMP document.

During the inventory and gap analysis, staff recognized many deficiencies in the SMP document that made navigating and interpreting shoreline section locations extremely difficult. These problems were noted in the revision inventory and included revision of the various maps and plans within the document as a priority for the update. After discussion, its was determined that due to city staff’s familiarity with the shoreline mapping layers and greater priority of other consultant scope of work items, that revision of the SMP maps and plans would be required to be completed in house.
